LGBT Community Celebrates Pride Month With Picnic

June 15, 2015

The area LGBT community and its allies gathered Sunday for fried chicken, fun, and fellowship at the annual Prairie Pride Coalition/Bloomington-Normal Parents, Families, and Friends of Gays and Lesbians Pride Picnic at Normal's Anderson Park.

The four-hour celebration is one of several June Pride Month events scheduled locally. Coming up Friday is "Adult Salad," an artists' open house beginning at 8 p.m. at Bloomington's The Bistro.

The open house will feature visual art, sculpture, performance art, and spoken word presentations, with a 10 p.m. open microphone. Free appetizers will be available.
