The Bloomington-Normal Branch of NAACP is a civil rights organization that is committed to ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
As we embarked upon this year within NAACP, the Bloomington-Normal branch has remained committed to our continuous efforts to provide the community with support on issues that affect us all. In addition, we are gracious for the support that you have shown us over the years.
The NAACP is now over more than 107 years old. In that time, many things have happened to change the course of American history. We have been a part of most significant changes to make the cause of justice a reality for all people. Ever since the Springfield Race Riot of 1908, the NAACP has led the way in thought and action for civil rights.
Over the past several years, our nation and world has been perplexed with a number of senseless acts that continue to make the work done by the NAACP relevant. Let’s keep this tradition alive and let the world know that “Our Lives Matter, Our Votes Count."
This year, the branch will host its Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Double Tree Hotel and Conference Center. The social hour will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the program at 5 p.m.
